Portland Yacht Services is seeking a Marine Rigger to join our Rig Shop. Our Rig Shop specializes in the inspection, service, repair, installation, and maintenance of sailboat rigging, spars, and related equipment.

Pay: $24.00 - $34.00 per hour

This position is full-time, year round and offers the opportunity to work on a wide variety of sailboats and projects, from seasonal stepping and unstepping to rigging repairs, upgrades, and custom work.

Responsibilities

  • Step and unstep masts
  • Inspect standing and running rigging
  • Replace and service standing rigging
  • Fabricate and replace running rigging
  • Splice line and prepare custom running rigging
  • Install and service furling systems
  • Service winches, blocks, travelers, and related sailing hardware
  • Assist with mast, boom, and spar projects
  • Install and replace rigging and deck hardware
  • Tune sailboat rigs
  • Perform seasonal commissioning and decommissioning of rigging
  • Work aloft when required
  • Maintain rigging tools, equipment, and work areas
  • Accurately document work performed and materials used
  • Follow established safety procedures

Requirements:Previous professional marine rigging experience is preferred, but we will consider candidates with sailing, boatyard, construction, fabrication, or other relevant hands-on experience who are interested in learning the marine rigging trade.
