THE OPPORTUNITY

Under the direction of the Manager and the supervision of the Food Services Supervisors, the Dietary Aide is responsible for the accurate, timely delivery and retrieval of patient meals, as well as quantity food prep and taking patient meal orders. The Dietary Aide executes their work with an understanding and knowledge of the diets and nutritional values set out by the service standards of GBGH.

While working in the cafeteria, the Dietary Aide is responsible for serving customers, stocking cafeteria supplies, and cleaning duties. The Dietary Aide adheres to hospital and departmental standards and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
The ideal candidate will possess the following key competencies, record of experience and academic preparation:

  • Grade 12 Diploma or recognized equivalent required
  • Hospitality, Culinary or Nutrition Management diploma an asset
  • Food Safety Certification course that is recognized by the Ministry of Health
  • Minimum of 1-year food service worker experience in an institutional setting or food service establishment
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced kitchen environment
  • Ability to maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards
  • Must have the ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Must have manual dexterity and ability to work with numbers for the required operation of an iPad POS system
  • Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance history
  • Food Service Worker program or equivalent on the job training; Food Safety Training, WHMIS or ability to attain
  • Experience using Computrition or other menu management software an asset
  • Food service operations an asset
  • Ability to perform duties in a professional and courteous manner and produce high quality work while meeting deadlines in accordance with GBGH standards
  • Exercise initiative and good judgement with ability to multi-task and work independently
  • Ability to adapt to change in a fast-paced working environment
  • Demonstrated consistent punctuality and attendance record, maintaining a high level of reliability and commitment to performing duties with efficiency and effectiveness in previous roles
  • Commitment to GBGH Values and Purpose Statement
  • As a partially designated French speaking organization, French verbal and written communication skills are considered an asset in this position

HOURS OF WORK
Full Time. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements and as per the SEIU collective agreement.

  • Hourly rate of pay $28.24-$28.89, plus an additional 2-weeks of vacation to start
